Both Bunnahabhain and Berry Bros. need no introduction, and when the former bottle a few stunning casks (numbered 18-20, with 18 and 20 having been bottled at cask strength and cask 19 bottled at 46%), all that’s left to do is have a taste, and let you know what it’s like 🙂
Berry Bros. & Rudd Bunnahabhain 1990 – 21 Year Old – Cask 19 (46% ABV, NCF, NC)
Appearance: Bronze, thin legs coming off a long lasting necklace.
Nose: Classic sherry nose, with beefy dry fruit, berries, hint of metallic sweetness, some vanilla instead of wood spices, suggesting this might be an American oak cask. Warm nose.
Palate: Perfume on the tongue, with floral lavender like notes, dry and almost chalky with a peppery overtone. Not your typical Bunnahabhain.
Linger: Wood spice galore in a dry and long finish, with sweet prunes on the tongue.
Conclusion
Interesting Dram, with a gorgeous nose and good finish, with the palate bordering on peculiar.
Thank you Kirsty and Stewart for this lovely sherry bomb!
