The younger GlenDronach single casks are consistently good, and this one is no different, albeit with a twist.

This is a single cask bottled for The Nectar in Belgium, as GlenDronach does not sell casks to independent bottlers, rather opts to handle the bottling as official bottlings and put the bottling client’s name on the official label. This is the practice with the BenRiach distilleries (BenRiach, GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh – strangely lacking the capital G in the middle, something the good guys from Brown Foreman may correct). This is the practice also for Kilchoman, and I expect it to be in practice with more and more privately owned distilleries.

GlenDronach 2003, Sauternes Cask 2545 , Distilled 1/8/2003, Bottled 7/2015 11 Year Old For The Nectar, Belgium (56.6% ABV, NCF, NC)
Appearance: Deep Copper, thin legs coming rather quickly off.
Nose: Earthy, the sauternes is discernible, sweet wood spices, wine, baking bread. Earthy nose persists through a drop of water.
Palate: Spicy dryness, lemon zest, bitter note, bittersweet chocolate.
Linger: Strong spices on the tongue, dryness, a soft sweetness with a residual note of coffee.
Conclusion
Earthy and different, the Sauternes works pretty well with the spirit, and this is definitely another aspect of how well the GlenDronach spirit takes to
