GlenDronach 10 Year Old ‘Luke Skywalker’ (48%)

The Next Danish market release I’ll get to and the third in the series, is a 10 year old matured in a Pedro Ximenez Sherry Cask. Why is it connected with Luke? It’s baby blue, so that makes sense (I guess). It’s also the color of his non green light saber, so there!

What can I tell you about this release?

This was matured in particularly sumptuous PX casks for 10 years (probably five butts, but who knows), and was bottled in 2015.

GlenDronach 10 Year Old ‘Luke Skywalker’, Pedro Ximenez Sherry Cask, Danish Whisky Retail Professionals, 3000 Bottles (48% ABV, NCF, NC)

Appearance: Copper, quite viscous with gorgeous legs lasting for a long time.

Nose: Pepper and honey, with deep stewed fruit compote. This is a proper sherry bomb with raisins, hints of leather in a predominantly, yet utterly balanced, spicy nose.

Palate: Wood spices and chocolate with pepper, white pepper and a hint of star fruit.

Linger: Mild wood bitterness with dark chocolate and coffee. It’s pretty long and has an ending note that’s a bit sweeter.

Conclusion

This is a stunning expression, that feels older than its years and is a great reminder why Billy Walker’s GlenDronach is/was the new Macallan.

Sadly, I don’t have samples of the Master Yoda and Mace Windu, so until those are acquired, this post truncates our Danish galactic adventure…..
